Do Oris Limited Edition watches hold value? ›

Rarity and limited editions: Oris watches that are produced in limited quantities or as part of special editions are often more sought-after by collectors, which can drive up their value over time. These rare timepieces are less likely to be affected by market fluctuations and can be a solid investment choice.

Every Oris watch has a seven-digit serial number that makes it unique. This is usually engraved into your watch's case back. When you register your watch via MyOris, it will be registered to your personal vault. We can also use this number to keep track of servicing, warranties and any repairs.

Watch Winding and Setting

To wind a manual Oris watch, gently turn the crown clockwise until you feel resistance. Avoid overwinding, as this can damage the mainspring. Oris manual watches typically have a power reserve of around 40-50 hours when fully wound.

Herzog took over the remainder of the company in 1982 as part of a management buyout. This turned Oris back into an independent company. Soon after, the newly formed and independent Oris SA elected to abandon quartz and produce mechanical timepieces in the mid-price segment.

Limited Editions and Rare Models

Like a car, a Tag Heuer watch will usually depreciate about 10% per year for approximately 3 years, when it starts to plateau. Watches that increase in value are those that are desired by collectors. This is usually limited to special editions and vintage models that are more difficult to find.

In the movie Keanu is seen wearing an Oris Modern Classic, which is actually now discontinued. The watch featured a black leather strap with a polished stainless steel case, the dial also has an intricate concave design which is what I think stands out most on the watch.
