Get ready for an exciting celebration of European cinema! The 38th European Film Awards are about to unveil their winners, and we're thrilled to announce that films from our FNE Partner Countries have received an impressive 38 nominations across nine categories. This is a testament to the incredible talent and creativity thriving within our partner nations.
But here's where it gets controversial: some of these films are pushing the boundaries of traditional cinema, and that's exactly what makes them so captivating. For instance, the Lithuanian/US animated film, Dog of God, directed by the talented Lauris and Raitis Ābele, is a unique blend of animation and storytelling that has earned it two nominations.
Another standout is the Croatian/Italian/Slovenian documentary, Fiume o morte!, directed by Igor Bezinović. This thought-provoking film has also received double nominations, showcasing the power of documentary storytelling.
And this is the part most people miss: the European Film Awards aren't just about the big names; they're a platform for diverse voices and stories. Take, for example, Tales from the Magic Garden, an animated film directed by a quartet of talented individuals: Leon Vidman, David Súkup, Patrik Pašš, and Jean-Claude Rozecwhom. This film, a collaboration between Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and France, is a true testament to the magic that happens when creative minds come together.
The awards ceremony will take place in Berlin on January 17, 2026, and we can't wait to see which of these incredible films takes home the prestigious European Film Award.
